10 KM MINI MARATHON AT AIR FORCE STATION PUNE
Pune – As part of the Republic Day celebration 2018 (Bharat Parv), Air Force Station Pune organized a 10 KM Mini Marathon on 21 Jan 18. The event was flagged – off by Air Commodore KV Surendran Nair, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Pune from Air Force School Viman Nagar at 8 am. The event was conducted under four different categories for men and women. Around 1000 marathoners belonging to both defence services and civil, participated together with great enthusiasm to make the event a huge success.
Simultaneously, Air Force School Viman Nagar also held its Annual School Marathon for around 500 Secondary and Senior Secondary students. A three Kilometers walkathon for the teachers and parents was also organized.
The aim of this marathon was not only to bring the civilian population closer to their military brethren, but to also encourage them to consider armed forces as a career option. Towards this, a publicity stall was set up where pamphlets containing relevant information were distributed amongst the young participants.
