148 ARMED FORCES OFFICERS PASS OUT FROM MILIT

145 officers of the Indian Armed Forces and 03 officers of a friendly foreign country (Sri Lanka) passed out on 19 May 17 upon successful completion of the Technical Staff Officers Course (TSOC) and Naval Technical Staff Course (NTSC), from the portals of the Military Institute of Technology (MILIT), the only Military Technology Training Institute of the Armed Forces.

Lt Gen Satish Dua, UYSM, SM, VSM, CISC, HQ IDS was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Maj Gen Mukesh K Dutta, Commandant MILIT and senior officers from the three services and other distinguished dignitaries were also present on the occasion. Mrs Aradhana Dua, President (DWWA) attended all functions as part of the event and encouraged the young ladies of the student officers to contribute their bit for the services and the society at large.

The General Officer felicitated all the graduating officers and distributed awards to the meritorious student officers. In his valedictory address, he stressed on a three-pronged approach towards ensuring operational preparedness of the Indian Armed Forces- Imbibing & absorbing cutting edge, state of art technologies, human resource capability enhancement by effective use of these technologies and thirdly, leadership at all levels for nurturing the next generation of professionals. The chief guest while highlighting that the country had established the first Tri-Services Training Establishments in the world, stated that the future warfare would be fought in joint theatres and that ‘jointness amongst services’ has assumed unprecedented significance. The chief guest instituted a new Trophy by the CISC, IDS for the officer standing first overall amongst all the three TSOCs. He concluded his address by congratulating all the award winners.

TSOC courses are conducted for all arms of the Indian Armed Forces to prepare mid-level officers for Command and Staff appointments, while NTSC officers would take up their first assignments in the Naval Armament Inspectorate stream.

Maj R Prakash was awarded the Technical Staff Course Rolling Trophy for standing first in the “Overall Order of Merit” in TSOC(Army). Wg Cdr A Rehman was awarded the” Chief of Air Staff’s Trophy” for standing first in the “Overall Order of Merit” in TSOC(Air Force). Cdr PV Suryanarayana and Lt Sohael Verma were awarded Commandant’s Trophy for “Best All Round“ performance in the Technical Staff Officers Course (Navy) and Naval Technical Staff Course, respectively.
