The deceased boy has been identified as Nicolas alias Nikku, a resident of Delhi. Police suspect that he was killed as he may been obstacle in his mother’s extra marital affairs.

Therefore, Delhi police did not pursue the case seriously then, even though a kidnapping case was registered. Nicolas lived with his grandfather since childhood.

Police officials said that Nicolas was studied in class ninth but here he was made to drop out of school and made to do household chores. When Joseph learnt about it, he asked Ritu to bring him back to Delhi. Ritu assured him that they will return for Christmas celebration. However a day before Christmas on December 24 Ali called Joseph to inform that Nicolas had allegedly committed suicide and they went absconding. Joseph immediately alerted Delhi Police but Ali and Ritu but could not be found.

Police reached Ali’s friend whose number Nicolas had used to call his grandfather few days before his mother. This friend helped locate the rented room in Fursungi on Saturday night.
