2,580 saplings planted during tree plantation driver at National Defence Academy

The National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla is encompassing to the vast areas of 6700 Acres. Out of this area, a major portion is covered by vegetation. This green cover not only provides habitat to wild life but also facilitates us with fresh and pollution free atmosphere. Therefore NDA considers it as its moral responsibility to preserve the forests to sustain the healthy environment.

A tree plantation drive was conducted primarily to enhance the ecological balance and for soil conservation.  Besides contributing towards preservation and development of flora and fauna at NDA, this initiative was also aimed at initiating the Cadets in this field and promoting the sense of responsibility and care and affection towards nature. The tree plantation was carried out all over Academy campus and a total of 2,580 saplings have been planted.

The event commenced with tree plantation by Air Marshal Jasjit Singh Kler, Vayu Sena Medal, Commandant NDA and Mrs Jasjeet  Kler President, Family Welfare Organisation at the Herbal Garden of NDA. This was followed by plantation of saplings by other Officers, ladies and cadets of NDA. All sections of the NDA fraternity participated in the event to make it a grand success.

The aim of this exercise was to involve the entire NDA Community to preserve and promote the environment and eco system at NDA. The school children of schools located at the NDA campus also participated in the plantation drive. Additionally, events like painting competition, collage making and environment awareness campaign were conducted for the children as a part of this initiative. The event was a success.
