3RD ELITE MEN’S BOXING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AT ARMY SPORTS INSTITUTE, PUNE ON 27 OCTOBER 2018

Pune – 3rd Elite Men’s Boxing National Championship commenced with fanfare at Army Sports Institute. This prestigious event is being conducted under the aegis of Services Sports Control Board on behalf of Boxing Federation of India (BFI) on 27 October 2018.  The opening ceremony commenced with a welcome speech by Colonel Rakesh Yadav, Commandant Army Sports Institute, Pune who welcomed the Chief Guest, Major General Ajay Pal, Vishisht Seva Medal, General Officer Commanding AGNIBAAZ Division, Mr Jay Kohli, Secretary General, BFI, Mr Kishan Narsi, Chairman Advisory Committee, BFI, officials and all players participating in the championship.

360 men boxers from 36 teams, officials of BFI and team managers & coaches are participating in this Boxing Nationals. The respective team representatives carried out a march past to the tunes of the Military Band, which was followed by an oath taking ceremony in which the oath was read out by the Arjuna Awardee, Subedar Satish Kumar.

The event was declared open by Major General Ajay Pal, Vishisht Seva Medal, who motivated and encouraged all teams to give their best and play the game in the true spirit of sportsmanship.

The preliminary bouts of fly weight 52 kg, Bantam weight 56 kg, light weight 60 kg and light welter 64 kg categories started after the opening ceremony.
