50 Smart E-Buses Enter PMP’s Fleet in the Presence of School Students, Senior Citizens

16 Aug 2019, Pune: Keeping aside formal etiquette, Smart E-buses were inducted in presence of senior citizens and school students who regularly travel by public transport. On behalf of Pune Smart City, 50 new Smart E-buses have been inducted in the PMPML’s fleet under Smart Mobility. Also, 50 new CNG buses of PMP were included in the fleet.
On this occasion Chandrakant Patil, Minister of Revenue and Guardian Minister of Pune district, MP Girish Bapat, Sanjay Kakade, Mayor Mukta Tilak, Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Pune Smart City Chief Executive Officer Dr. Rajendra Jagtap, CMD of PMPML Nayana Gunde, Director Siddharth Shirole and other dignitaries were present. All the dignitaries, including the Guardian Minister, sat in the new Smart E-bus and took information about features of the Smart E-bus.

A total of 150 electric buses are being procured in the first phase under the Smart Electric Bus project. Among them 25 are non-BRT AC electric buses of 9 meters length, and 125 BRT AC electric buses are of 12 meters length. In the first phase, 25 Smart E- buses were purchased. Now, 50 more Smart E-buses have been inducted by PSCDCL.
50 CNG buses have also been taken by PMPML.

Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil said, “To make Pune’s transport smooth, Pune Smart City is implementing a viable Smart E-bus project. Pune Smart City’s efforts will help in achieving the Prime Minister’s dream of making 100 cities smart in the country.”

“Smart City projects implemented in various parts of the city will be useful to Punekars in the long term”, said MP Girish Bapat and MP Sanjay Kakade.

Pune Smart City CEO Dr. Rajendra Jagtap was quoted saying, “Every Punekar should take advantage of this facility by traveling with Smart E-bus which is equipped with modern smart technology. However, Smart E-buses and other related projects being implemented in accordance with smart mobility are going to help smoothening public transport in Pune city. It will help in getting rid of hassles in the public transport.”

Jagtap said, “From the perspective of smart development of various infrastructures in the city, various projects are being implemented by Pune Smart City with the help and
coordination of PMC & other government bodies. Smart e-bus project is a part of this attempt. ”
