The 1st ASEF Young Leaders Summit hosted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University)

Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE) under the aegis of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), recently, hosted – 1st Asia-Europe Foundation Young Leaders Summit, at Lavale campus.

The summit saw 21 participants from 17 different countries mostly from Europe and Asia like Latvia, Australia, Romania, Cyprus, Sweden, Ireland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Brunei Darussalam, Japan, Russian Federation, Poland, Sweden, Spain, United Kingdom, Singapore, Japan, China, Germany, Sweden and Poland.

The theme of the summit ‘Ethical Leadership’ focused on workshops with key dialogue sessions, in order to establish a stellar environment of self-development and collaboration. The forum investigated 3 critical levels of leadership namely- Self, team and societal.

Two students have been selected from SIU to represent the university at the next two summits being held in Brussels and Poland.

In his opening speech, The Chancellor of Symbiosis International Deemed University, Dr. S. B. Mujumdar spoke on how the guru or a teacher influences his students and shared his own experiences. He further reiterated on how ethics plays an important role in education. The Pro Chancellor, Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar and the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Rajani Gupte, shared their experiences and dilemmas while imbibing a culture of ethical leadership in education. They went on to impart some real life experiences making the sessions interactive and insightful for the students.
