About SBI Pinkathon – Empowering Indian Women:

SBI Pinkathon powered by Women’s Horlicks – Empowering Indian Women is an international run only for women. The objective of the event is to encourage women’s health and fitness. Pinkathon also aims to raise awareness about breast cancer, its causes and prevention. Pegged at being the deadliest cancer in women in the country, it is estimated that 1 in 22 Indian women have the lifetime probability of developing breast cancer and the number of new breast cancer cases were expected to rise to 250,000 new cases per year by 2015. Pinkathon is a unique initiative that encourages women to incorporate a fitness programme into their daily lives by promoting simple activities like walking and running. Running addresses most of the top 10 ways to help prevent breast cancer, not only promoting well-being but also raising immunity levels and improving health to help fight diseases like cancer. The key to controlling this disease, therefore, is to create awareness about preventive measures for breast cancer. Pinkathon offers the running distances of 3 km, 5 km and Volini 10 km giving each runner an opportunity to run in their comfort zone.
