Bharat Kumar, the World Champion para-swimmer, forced to wash cars!

International para-swimmer Bharat Kumar, who has won 50 medals, has been forced to wash cars of others to earn his living.  It is such a sorry state of affairs that Kumar, despite bringing such laurels to the nation, is still without a job.

The gold medalist has now written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to listen to his problems and do something that might help him.

Kumar hails from Haryana and currently lives in Delhi. His parents are daily wage labourers.

Bharat, who was born and brought up in a poverty-stricken family learnt swimming by holding the tail of buffalo! Swimming became his passi
on in 2002 and formally started practicing in 2004 at Delhi Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Kumar born without a left arm, realized that dream in 2006 when he clocked a throw of 10.82m in shotput to clinch a Silver medal at the IWAS World Junior Athletics Championships in Ireland. Kumar has no dearth of talent and medals to prove his worth. An all-rounder who has won medals across Shotput, 400m track, swimming has a tally of 2 International & 40 Natiobharat accountnal Level Medals.

 

With no help, Kumar has been struggling for a decent daily meal, let alone having access to adequate sports equipment and training.
