Haryana Government has a plan to set up 38 indoor sports halls in 19 districts of the State to provide facilities for indoor sports in rural areas.

Chandigarh –Haryana Government has a plan to set up 38 indoor sports halls in 19 districts of the State to provide facilities for indoor sports in rural areas. This was stated by Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Mr. Anil Vij, while presiding over a review meeting of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department here. He said that sports equipment would also be provided in these halls. The Minister said that these indoor halls would be set up in the already constructed rural sports complexes as each such complex is built over an area of 6.5 acres. He said that the sports scheme of Central Government has ten sports, but keeping in view various games being played in different parts of the State, it has been decided to add two more games of Kho-Kho and Weightlifting to it. He said that 126 blocks have been indentified in 21 districts of the State to organise competitions in rural areas. Mr.Vij said that new stadia would be constructed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (MGNREGA) to generate employment opportunities.
