A study should be conducted on eco-friendly use of flowers and garlands used in religious places : Chief Minister

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has called for a study to see how flowers and garlands offered at religious places in an eco-friendly manner.

Giving this information, a state government spokesman today said that following the wishes of the Chief Minister, a pilot project would be conducted at the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi by the organization ‘Help us Green’. The organization will also submit a report of its study at the temple to the state government.

It may be pointed out here that the ‘Help us Green’ organization works to convert flowers at religious places into vermicompost manure. The organization has also informed that very often the flowers etc. offered at religious places are dumped into rivers leading to water pollution.

By using it in making manure, the organization further stated, pollution in rivers can also be minimized. Keeping all these facts in mind, the Chief Minister had ordered for a study.
