Chandigarh, March 2 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, said that 12 countries would participate in the first ‘Happening Haryana Global Investors’ Summit-2016’ being organised in Gurgaon on March 7 and 8, 2016. The Chief Minister, who was addressing media persons at Hotel Leela Ambience, the venue of the Summit in Gurgaon today expressed the hope that the Summit would be a historic event. He said that entrepreneurs had assured him of their keenness in investing in the State. This event is being organised by the Haryana Government in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Describing the people of Haryana as resilient, he expressed belief that the State would organise the Summit in a successful manner. He said that 12 countries, including China, Czech Republic, Japan, Republic of Malawi, Mauritius, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Republic of Peru, Republic of Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom and the Tunisian Republic, were participating as partner countries in the Summit.

Earlier, addressing the media persons, Industries Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu, said that Union Finance Minister, Mr. Arun Jaitley, would inaugurate the two-day event. Several Union Ministers, including Urban Development Minister, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu, Railways Minister, Mr. Suresh Prabhu, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister, Mr. Kalraj Mishra, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister, Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister and Mr. Rajiv Pratap Rudy would also be present on the occasion.

He said that Union Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Minister, Mr. Nitin Gadkari would be the Chief Guest during the closing ceremony on March 8. Replying to a question, the Industries Minister said that more than 800 entrepreneurs from India and other countries would participate in the Summit on the first day. Technical sessions would also be held. Representatives of 140 foreign companies and Ambassadors and High Commissioners of different countries would also participate in this event. He said that well-known industrialists such as China’s Wanda Group had decided to invest in Haryana. He said that despite the recent incidents in the State, Japan has proposed to become a partner country in the Summit. It was telephonically conveyed to the Haryana Chief Minister that the State should organise the Summit and that Japan would definitely participate in the event. He said that even the people wanted to ensure the safety of the industries, therefore, when the law and order situation in the State was disturbed, the people provided protection to the industries and drove away the protestors.

He said that during the Summit, special emphasis would be laid on start-ups for youth. Start-up boot camps have been organised in different colleges and Universities in the State, he added. Replying to a question, the Industries Minister said that the State Government was confident that the investment target set in the Summit would be achieved. Replying to a question about power, he said that the State Government was committed to providing 24-hour power supply on a daily basis even though the State does not have any hydel project or coal mines. Replying to another question, he said that ‘Parvasi Haryana Divas’ had been cancelled as the Haryana Government did not want to organise programmes for any festival following the recent incident in the State.

He said that Haryana would celebrate its Golden Jubilee from November 1, 2016, and that ‘Parvasi Haryana Divas’ would be organised in the Golden Jubilee year. He said that the State Government is organising ‘Sadbhavna Saptah’ in the State to give concrete form to the concept of ‘Haryana Ek-Haryanvi Ek’. Capt. Abhimanyu said that Haryana has implemented the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ programme, which was launched by Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. He said that work on the long-pending Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway has been restarted and the Manesar-Palwal stretch is nearly complete. The Kundli-Manesar stretch would be completed within the next 400 days, he added. Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Mr. Devender Singh, also spoke on the occasion.
