ACB catches DySP for demanding Rs 5 lakh bribe

Satara, May 7, 2016 : A deputy superintendent of police (DySP) of Satara police and a private person were caught by the anti-corruption bureau(ACB), Mumbai unit, for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 5 lakh.

The officer had demanded the bribe from a man arrested in drugs dealing with connections in Satara and Mumbai.

The accused deputy superintendent of police Deepak Humbre (50) had demanded Rs 5 lakh from the drug dealer to submit a favorable report in Sessions court of Satara which would help in clearing charges of the   Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The private person identified as Yuvraj Dhamal had accepted the bribe on behalf of Humbre.

The drug dealer had lodged a complaint with Mumbai ACB unit and accordingly a trap was laid and the duo were arrested in Satara on Saturday. ACB sleuths had used genuine notes for Rs 1 lakh and dummy currency notes with face value of Rs 4 lakh to trap the accused.

The drug dealer and a policeman from Mumbai were arrested in March 2015, for possession of Mephedrone drugs worth Rs 22 crore and accordingly a case was lodged against them in Satara and Mumbai.
