Social welfare department’s regional deputy commissioner (Pune region) Madhav Rukhmaji Vaidya and his accomplice peon Narhari Sonaba Teli (44), was nabbed by the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Tuesday evening for allegedly taking bribe of Rs two lakh. Vaidya had earlier accepted Rs 10 lakhs for granting approval and continuation of four teachers and one cook at a ashram shala, residential school for tribal students, in Nanded district. The complaint was lodged by president of educational institute.

In September 2014, Vaidya accepted Rs 10 lakhs but granted approval for three teachers and one cook when he was posted in Latur. For granting approval of fourth teacher and continuation for all of them, Vaidya demanded Rs two lakhs more. Meanwhile he was transferred to Pune on July 4. Vaidya promised the complainant to undertake his work and issue back dated orders, even after he is transferred on the same post to Pune. They were caught red handed while accepting the money.
