After exodus of IT companies from Hinjewadi, police plan one way traffic in IT Park

Hinjewadi, Pune – After media reports emerged that 56 companies have shifted from the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjewadi due to traffic problems in the area, police have now planned one-way traffic on experimental basis.

Police have planned circular traffic movement at Shivaji Chowk, Wipro circle phase 1. Cops have also banned turns at some places to ease traffic movement.

Pimpri Chinchwad police commissioner RK Padmanabhan on Monday went to Hinjewadi to check the traffic problems there. Many engineers told him that they saved about 45 minutes.

After talking to local villagers, their representatives and IT companies engineer, it was decided to experiment circular one-way traffic from Bhumkar chowk till Wipro circle. There will no right turn at Shivaji chowk. People coming from Wakad-Hinjewadi flyover will have to take left turn at Shivaji chowk and then turn right at Wipro phase I circle.

There are over 2000 companies in the Hinjewadi IT Park, where about 10 lakhs people work. Everyday during morning and evening peak hours.
