AIR MARSHAL C K RANJAN APPOINTED AS NEW DIRECTOR & COMMANDANT OF AFMC

Air Marshal C K Ranjan, AVSM, VSM, has been appointed as Director and Commandant of the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, which is his Alma Mater. He replaces Lt Gen A K Nagpal, VSM who retired on 30 Sep 2016.

 

Air Marshal C K Ranjan, AVSM, VSM is a graduate of AFMC, Pune. He was commissioned into the Indian Air Force in 1980. He has done his MD and DNB in Aviation Medicine and is a graduate from Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. He has also been awarded a MSc in Defence Studies and M Phil in Hospital & Health System Management.

 

During his long and distinguished career he has held various prestigious appointments including Professor & Head, Department of Aerospace Medicine at Institute of Aerospace Medicine, Bangalore, Commandant, Air Force Central Medical Establishment, New Delhi, Commandant, Command Hospital Air Force , Bangalore, and  Additional DGAFMS ( E&S) in the Office of DGAFMS.

 

He was holding the appointment of Principal Medical Officer, Headquarters, Training Command, Indian Air Force prior to assuming his present appointment.

 

Air Marshal C K Ranjan, AVSM, VSM, is a keen academician. He has a large number of presentations and research publications in reputed scientific journals to his credit.

 

He has been awarded Ati Vishist Seva Medal in 2015, Vishist Seva Medal in 2008 and AOC in C Commendation Card in 1992 for meritorious service.

 

Air Marshal C K Ranjan, AVSM, VSM is married to Dr Sreeja Swamidas who is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon. They have two daughters, Soumya and Nitya Ranjan, who are both employed.
