A liberal arts education helps achieve intellectual fearlessness, it develops an ability to comprehend the complex, dynamic and infinite socio-cultural and economic nuances, and it further builds an ability to perform critical thinking at each step in one’s life and career.
Ajeenkya DY Patil University offers a unique liberal arts program, which is designed to provide the students with a ground to generate innovative ideas and turn them into creative thinkers who understand major topics of global and national importance and who are capable of solving dynamic problems of the contemporary world.
Speaking about this unique liberal arts offering, is Dr Ajeenkya DY Patil, President—ADYPU, “Since times immemorial, we are privileged that India has a long tradition of multidisciplinary and holistic learning systems.
Our ancient scriptures described education as knowledge of all arts—which is coined as liberal arts in contemporary times—which needs to be revived in Modern Higher Education System. He further added: “Liberal Arts Education is the need of the times for 21st century. The liberal education empowers an individual to thrive in a VUCA world. This collaboration is a step-forward in our internationalization efforts and provides a new dimension to a strong partnership between the two universities.”
Dr. Sandra Jordan–Chancellor-University of South Carolina, Aiken said, “We are pleased to expand our longstanding partnership with ADYPU by teaming up with them in this way. Together, we will prepare our graduates for the global community in which we are now engaged and living in, a community where, through shared experiences, we can make the world and our corner in it so much better.”
She stressed the importance of liberal arts education, “Regardless of the career paths our graduates choose, a strong liberal arts education is critical to their success long after they leave the university. Every professional needs to have the ability to analyse and explore new ideas, differing perspectives, and insights into different cultures and periods of our shared history.”
