All award winning teachers’ should form ‘Teachers Council’ :  Vinod Tawde

Mumbai, 5 September 2019: While speaking on the occasion of Teachers Day organized by the state, Higher and Technical Education Minister Vinod Tawde said that a teachers’ council should be formed in the following years to bring together the ‘Rajya Adrash Shikshak Puraskar’ (State Ideal Teacher Award) and ‘Savitribai Phule Adarsh Shikshak Puraskar’ (Savitribai Phule Ideal Teacher Award) awardee.

Former President of India Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birth anniversary is celebrated as Teacher’s Day. Primary, Secondary and Special Teachers, Primary Teachers in Tribal areas and ‘Savitribai Phule Adarsh Shiksheka Puraskar’ (Savitribai Phule Ideal Women Teacher Award) was given by the State Government to the teachers for 2018-19 was organized at the Rangsharda Hotel in Mumbai. School Education and Sports Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar, MLA Sardar Tara Singh, MLA Kapil Patil, School Education and Sports Secretary Saurabh Vijay, Education Commissioner Vishal Solanki along with family members for the winners, teachers and awardees were present. The state teacher awardees were honoured with one lakh rupees, testimonials and memento. During the award ceremony Dr. Sanjay Upadhye recited his poems while interacting with the audience.

Mr. Tawde said that teachers’ council can share their experiences can help in improving the efficiency of the students and will help other teachers during their interaction with the students in the state. A teacher not only shapes students but also shapes the society and nation. Shri Tawde congratulated the teachers who received the award; he mentioned that due to online system the Adarsh teacher award is reaching the tribal, remote and village teachers.

Teachers are role models for students – Adv. Ashish Shelar

Mr. Shelar said in the coming times teachers should emphasize on providing quality education to students. It is also important to honour teacher on every Teachers Day, because not only students but also teachers are taking extensive efforts to shape future citizens of the country. Maharashtra has a tradition of brilliant education, excellent teachers and education reformers. The responsibility of the students is very important. Adv. Shelar expressed belief that teachers would be role models for students in the coming years.

The State Government has selected 107 teachers at the School Education and Sports Department level, ‘Adarsh Shikshak Puraskar’ (Ideal Teacher Award) for the year 2018-19, 37 are Primary Teachers, 39 Secondary Teachers, 18 Primary Teachers for their excellent teaching in remote and tribal areas, eight from ‘ Savitribai Phule Adarsh Shikshak Puraskar’,  two special teachers (Arts / Sports category) and one Divyang (Disabled) teacher / school teachers from divyang schools  and one guide teacher and one scout teachers are also included.
