ALL INDIA RADIO PUNE PAYS MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO HEROES OF 1965 INDO-PAK WAR

Punekar News's photo.All India Radio Pune on its Anniversary on 2nd October 2015 had arranged a Gazal Concert at Dhanvantri Auditorium of AFMC, Pune. Well known gazal singers, Shri Chandan Das and Smt Mohini Shrigaud, gave moving performances in singing gazals.

While introducing the programme on behalf of Southern Command Brig Ranjan Mahajan, Sena Medal thanked the staff and artists of All India Radio, Pune for their offer of the Ghazal Concert for the army. Rightly the concert was dedicated to the those who sacrificed themselves during Indo Pak War of 1965.

Shri Ravindra Khasnis, while introducing the programme on behalf of All India Radio paid tribute to martyrs of 1965 war by observing a two minute silence before the commencement. The Deputy Director General of All India Radio Pune, Mr Bhatnagar while inaugurating the concert mentioned that it was a great opportunity for All India Radio to be an active partner in the Celebration of Golden Jubilee of 1965 War.

The function was attended primarily by patients of various medical establishments of the army, some of whom had sustained grievous injuries during actual battle with insurgents or at the border areas. Some of the serving staff and their family members also attended the great evening full of entertainment.

The programme was very solemn in its purpose and was delivered with equally moving performances by artists who put their heart and soul in it. They were ably accompanied by Shri Arshad Khan, Shri Rahul Shrivastava, Shri Amit Joshi, Shri Rohit Kulkarni, Smt Anjali Rao and the programme was anchored by Dr Sunil Keshav Deodhar and Mrs Gauri Lagoo. At the conclusion Brig Ranjan Mahajan of HQ Southern Command thanked the staff and artists of All India Radio Pune for acknowledging the contribution of the army in the War and their tribute to the martyrs.
