Amanora Township encouraging 5,5oo families to participate in plastic free initiative

Pune, September 14, 2019: The Amanora Park Town today launched an initiative- ‘Plastic Waste Free Amanora’ to restrain the use of plastic among its residents on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Amanora Club House in presence of Ramdas Kadam, Environment Minister, Government of Maharashtra.

As per the initiative, the township in collaboration with Chitale Group and Recykal company launched an app- Reloop to create awareness among its 5500 resident families and persuade them to participate in the plastic recycling programme.

With the help of the App, the citizens will be able to return all plastic items including milk pouches, bottles, wrappers, packets or bags to the collection points identified by the App around the township. The residents accordingly will receive 20 points per kilo of plastic they contribute, which they will be able to buy back with over 200 different brands which ‘Reloop’ has tied up with.

Dignitaries including Anirudh Deshpande, Managing Director, Amanora Park Town, Shripad Chitale, Partner, Chitale Dairy, Girish Chitale, Atul Chitale, Sudhir Shrivastav, Chairman, MPCB, E. Ravindran, Member Secretary, MPCB, Abhay Deshpande from the Board of Directors, Recycal were present at the occasion.

Speaking at the occasion, Ramdas Kadam said, “The decision to ban plastic in Maharashtra was significant but despite that about 30 percent of plastic is still being used in households. We wanted to restrain the use of milk pouches but it can not be stopped entirely. All milk producers constitute to 1 crore milk pouches everyday. If all of them can be recycled, then we’ll be able to stop 35 ton of plastic waste daily.”

Anirudh Deshpande stated, “We have been collecting plastic for recycling since 2010 at Amanora Township. We’ll try and make Amanora the first township in Maharashtra a plastic-free township.”

Shripad Chitale said, “As per the initiative, if a person returns a cleaned half litre milk pouch to the collection point they will get 25 paise, whereas for 1 litre they will get 50 paise.”

Sudhir Shrivastav stated, “Plastic creates several environmental hazards and its recycling process is tedious. Through such initiatives we’ll be able to keep our environment clean and safe.”

Abhay Deshpande said “The use of Apps is common nowadays and through ‘Reloop’ we’ll be able to make lot of people participate in this eco-friendly activity. In Hadapsar, there are already more than 300 places where Chitale milk pouches are being collected for recycling.”
