Army Institute of Technology Conducts 4th Convocation Ceremony

Pune,10thFebruary, 2019 : Army Institute of Technology (AIT) recently conducted its 4th annual convocation ceremony at its Dighi campus. A total of 280 graduates were conferred degrees this year.

Brig. Abhay Bhat, Director, AIT, welcomed the chief guest Padmavibhushan Dr. R.A. Mashelkar. Director presented elaborative report of performance and achievements of graduating batch of 2018. He informed that more than 90% of the students from graduated batch have been placed in top notch industries like Microsoft, Deloitte, Bosch, HSBC with the average salary of 6 Lakh and highest of 39 Lakh. He concluded the speech with the quote “Success isn’t about how much money you make; it’s about the difference you make in people’s life.”

Dr. R.A. Mashelkar, National Research Professor and Former Director General of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), spoke about need for including sustainable technologies in engineering education. The theme of his speech were “The 3Ds” as he mentioned – that will drive future society. The 3Ds are digitalization, decarbonization (Sustainability of environment), and democratization of access (Sustainability of society). He further said “With evolution of digital technology; artificial intelligence and machine learning will play a significant role in academics as well as in corporate field.” At the end, He shared with the students 5 Mashelkar Mantras which helped him immensely in his life “Aspirations are possibilities. Always keep aspirations high. There’s instant coffee but no instant success. Perseverance pays don’t quit, Create your own opportunities, there’s no limit to your achievements excepting the limit that you put on your mind; so go limitless.”

Maj. Gen. Pritam Bishnoi, VSM, Chairman AIT proposed the vote of thanks on behalf of management and governing body of AIT. He complimented the graduates for turning out in such a large number for the ceremony. He advised the students to keep moving and avoid status quo.
