Army Institute of Technology to celebrate its Foundation Day on 24th February 2017

Pune: Army Institute of Technology (AIT) which is the only Engineering College in India for wards of Army personnel from all over India, is all set to celebrate its 23rd Foundation Day on 24th Feb 2017 at Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Hall, AIT Campus, Pune. 
 
The Institute was founded in 1994 as a result of untiring efforts of late Gen B C Joshi, a great visionary who realized the utter need of quality technical higher education for the wards of Army Personnel. AIT is ranked in top 10 T-schools of the Western  Region.
 
AIT as part of its 23rd anniversary will be honoring two leading personalities for their contribution in the field of technology.  The lifetime award will be given to Padma Shri Dr. Govind Swarup, leading scientist and internationally renowned radio astronomer, and Successful Entrepreneur Award to Mr Mangesh Kale, MD PARI.
 
Dr. Swarup has received many noteworthy national and international awards like SS Bhatnagar Award 1972, Padma Shri 1973, CV Raman Medal, Meghnad Saha Medal and Homi Bhabha Life Time Achievement Award by the Prime Minister of India. Dr. Swarup is also the Director of Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT), Pune, which is world’s largest radio telescope. He will be given the award along with a citation.
 
The recipient of Successful Entrepreneur Award is Mr Mangesh Kale, Managing Director of Precision Automation and Robotics India Ltd (PARI). PARI is the largest manufacturing automation company in India.

Also the Best Student’s Rolling Trophy will be given to Mr. Abhay Pandey, BE Mechanical 2016. He is currently  undergoing  the officer’s training in Air Force Technical college , Bangalore ( Indian Air Force ) .

The Chief Guest of the ceremony will be Lt Gen R J Noronha, PVSM, AVSM**, SM, Chief of Staff, HQ Southern Command. Maj Gen Jalaj Bhola, Chief Signals Officer, HQ Southern Command is also gracing the occasion.
   
AIT ranked is currently ranked ‘A’ grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and carries the best campus placement record consistently above 90%. The Institute also has quite a few industry sponsored labs by 3DPLM, Nvidia, Agreeya Mobility and IBM.

Real strength of this Institute is the bright engineering student talents who have made their significant mark in National Hackathons, Model Making Competitions and other technical challenges organized by reputed industries and professional bodies like NASSCOM and CII.

Well-known industries and NGOs have always extended a great support to the wards of Army personnel through the release of number of scholarships like Tata Merit Scholarships, ZS Associates Scholarships, Persistent Scholarships, Badve Scholarships, Horizon Scholarships and New Indian Express Scholarships. The distribution of these scholarships will also take place on the occasion of A I T Day .
