ASG opens its first branch of eye hospital in Pune, Maharashtra

15 Feb 2019, Pune: It is a great pleasure to inform that the nation’s leading Eye Super Specialty hospital chain ASG, is opening its first branch in Pune from tomorrow. The ASG group has 27 branches in 13 states and 23 cities. These include Rajasthan, Gujrat, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha, Bihar and Maharashtra.

The ASG Eye Hospital chain is being managed by the experienced, former surgeons of AIIMS, New Delhi. The ASG chain was launched in 2005 by two experienced doctors from AIIMS – Dr. Arun Singhvi and Dr. Shashank Gang. Subsequently, other specialist doctors also joined the hospital which soon resulted into the rapidly growing chain of ASG Eye Hospitals. The main objective of setting up the ASG Group of Eye Hospitals was to provide everyone with the world’s best ophthalmic facilities and remedies cutting across the economical, social and knowledge disparities, and for this reason, to create an organization of experienced doctors whose knowledge and experience are better than the best. It is a great pleasure that now Pune will also have the eye care facilities at par with AIIMS.

The hospital is starting at Plot No. 557, Ground Floor, Cello Platina Building, Near Police ground, FC Road, Shivaji Nagar. This is the first branch of the ASG Eye hospital in Maharashtra. The hospital’s Senior doctors’ team will be consisting of four experienced doctors; Dr. Nitesh Salunkhe, Dr. Mukesh Patil, Dr. Divya Singh Patil, & Dr. Akash Yadav.

Dr. Nitesh Salunkhe has completed his MD Ophthalmology & Specialization in Vitreo-retina, Uvea, ROP & Phaco from prestigious AIIMS, New Delhi. Dr. Salunkhe has a wide experience in managing complex vitreo-retinal surgeries, ROP screening and lasers. He also has a vast experience of retinal laser procedures and intravitreal injections. He has expertise in the complete medical and surgical management of Diabetic Eye Disease and performs phacoemulsification surgeries as well.

Dr. Mukesh Patil has completed his MD Ophthalmology & Specialization thereafter from AIIMS, New Delhi. He is working in ASG Eye Hospital as Cataract (Phaco), Refractive Surgery, Glaucoma, Squint & Pediatric Ophthalmology specialist. He specializes in the Cataract Phacoemulsification surgeries with Toric/ Multifocal/ EDOF IOLs including pediatric cataracts and Refractive Surgeries (LASIK/ ICL/ Bioptics). He also has a vast experience and expertise in complex Squint and Glaucoma surgeries, amblyopia, Glaucoma & Optic neuropathy management.

Dr. Divya Singh Patil has completed her MD Ophthalmology and Specialization in Cataract (Phaco), Refractive Surgery, Cornea & Ocular Surface from prestigious AIIMS, New Delhi. She specializes in the field of Cataract Phacoemulsification surgeries with Toric/ Multifocal/ EDOF IOLs including pediatric and traumatic cataracts, Refractive Surgeries (LASIK/ ICL/ Bioptics). She has a wide experience in performing full thickness and lamellar Corneal Transplantation Surgeries like DSEK/ DMEK, DALK, ALTK/ SALK, Kerato-prosthesis, Optical and Therapeutic PKs. She has also gained expertise in the medical and surgical management of ocular surface diseases with amniotic membrane grafting, limbal stem cell transplant surgeries, mucous membrane grafting and minor salivary gland transplantation.

Dr. Akash Yadav is working in ASG Eye Hospital as Oculoplasty, Ocular Aesthetics, Cataract & Refractive Surgery Specialist. He has completed his fellowship in Oculoplasty from Sri Sankardeva Netralaya. He has a wide experience of performing complex ocular plastic surgeries for lid & ocular tumours, ptosis & Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction. He has also performed several lid reconstruction surgeries, blepharoplasties and ocular aesthetic procedures like BOTOX injections. He also has a wide experience in performing Cataract (Phaco) & Refractive Surgeries.

In today’s press conference, Dr. Mukesh said that the latest phacoemulsification surgery with foldable IOL implantation (TORIC/ Multifocal/ EDOF IOLs) provides very good results in cataracts without the need of any injection, stitch or bandage. Our experts are skilled and experienced in operating complex cases like mature cataracts, small pupil cataracts and traumatic, subluxated cataracts. He also laid importance on the timely management of the Amblyopia (Lazy eye), Squint and Glaucoma to prevent the permanent loss of vision.

Dr. Divya said that the advanced technology of Wavefront guided Customized Q-LASIK provides very good results for all sort of Refractive errors like Myopia, Hyperopia & Astigmatism. The patients can get rid of their glasses/ contact lenses in a painless procedure within very few minutes by this technique. This would be done at our hospital with the latest Visx Star Excimer Laser and iDesign system by AMO, USA. We also have the facility of ICLs and Bioptics for those patients in whom Q-LASIK is not possible. She also mentioned that the hospital is equipped with the state-of-the-art Optical store for glasses and contact lens fitting.

Dr. Nitesh said that stitch-less 25G and 27G vitrectomy surgeries would be provided for diseases of the retina. It is essential to get the retina of Diabetic and Hypertensive patients screened. Intravitreal injections are available for the patients suffering from diseases of the retina like Diabetic Macular edema, or other Proliferative retinopathies. It is also essential to screen the retina of the premature babies because such babies are prone to develop blindness if a proper diagnosis and treatment of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) is not done. Uveitis and Choroiditis which are difficult to diagnose and treat are also taken care of with the latest medicines.

Dr. Akash said that it is very essential to get the checkup of the children with problem of watering in early age as this condition can be taken care of without any surgery if treated timely. He also mentioned that the hospital is equipped to provide the ocular aesthetic services like BOTOX injections and blepharoplasties. He also added that the treatment for such patients who are suffering from drooping of the lid, any lid tumours is now possible.
