Atlas Copco launches new air compressors at its Chakan factory

Pune: Atlas Copco — a leading provider of sustainable productivity solutions – on Monday launched a new range of GA75-110VSD+ Variable Speed Drive compressors at a customer meet ‘Seeing is Believing’ held at its Chakan plant in Pune.

Conrad Latham- General Manager of Atlas Copco, founded in 1873, introduced a new range of GA75-110VSD+ Variable Speed Drive compressors with iPM (magnetic) motor, Neos driven VSD with 2 pressure variances at a customer meet held at its Chakan plant, Pune.It is said to be the most energy efficient compressor launched in India till date with a unique energy saving technique and a vertical design.Mr. Latham informed that the compressor although has been designed in Belgium, manufacturing of this product in India will begin in the end of October.

Adding to this he said “Our aim is to not only reduce energy but also recover energy. True to our commitment to ‘Make in India’, we are the first company to make world-class energy saving Variable Speed Drive compressors in India and now we will extend it further. There are many service solutions depending on customer’s choice and we make sure that service reaches the customers in right time so customers make profit and hence we are always striving to enhance our customer experience and increase productivity through innovation and design”. He added “the running hours of service are monitored which tells us about the service. Also machines should be able to communicate to people”.

It has also been informed that the old products launched previously shall be discontinued further and the estimated rate of the compressors now is around 25 lakhs, which is yet to be decided and confirmed also depending upon customer’s payback. The major sectors to which the supply is distributed are general engineering, automotive, manufacturing, textile, pharmaceuticals, power, food, automobile, iron and steel, and all other industries that require compressed air in their applications and processes.

This green plant is IGBC Gold certified for its efficient use of energy and water consumption. The customers got a first-hand view of new Atlas Copco Industry 4.0 processes which take the Lean manufacturing concepts to the next level.There are three manufacturing units all over Asia located in India, Japan and China and other units located all over the world are in Belgium, The United States, Germany and Italy. Atlas Copco had revenues of BSEK 101 (BEUR 11) and about 45,000 employees. There are more than 7120000 connections and more than 450 sales and service team including 175 service technicians working under this industry which ensures that the best compressor is used. There is also a Research Company of Atlas Copco in Hinjewadi in which over 500 people are working on new developments as shared by Conrad Latham.
