Author Rhythm Sudhir Wagholikar received Ph.D. in ‘Transgender Sociology’

Rhythm Sudhir Wagholikar, 26 year old Pune resident was honored with an honorary doctorate from the Commonwealth Vocational University in Bangkok Thailand. He was awarded a Ph.D for his research in ‘Transgender Sociology’- that revolves around Issues, Challenges and control measures for the Transition of Transgenders in the country.

Rhythm has been working for the acceptance of this community that was left unattended by public.

He has worked with several Transgenders within the country. He recently wrote a biography on India’s First Transgender Shree Gauri Sawant- that encompasses a story of how a transgender can be a loving mother. The book features a special message from legendary Amitabh Bachchan too. Rhythm in the past has researched about transgenders who are willing to live differently and crave for acceptance, he has also recommended them for awards and prestigious recognitions.

While he is the founder of ‘Applaud’, a NGO that works for the betterment and societal acceptances the Transgender community in the country. The NGO further acts as bridge and also works on employment for the community and its welfare.
