Bihar Foundation celebrates Makar Sankranti orphans, senior citizens

Pune – The Bihar Foundation Pune Chapter on Sunday celebrated Makar Sankranti with around 125 orphan children, senior citizens in Ashram, Old age home and Gaushala run by Dharamveer Shambhuraje Pratishthan in Kalepadal, Hadapsar.

The foundation members prepared Khichadi, Til Laddu and Dahi-Poha. More than 100 members were present to celebrate the festival. The children also enjoyed dance with the members.

Makar Sankranti or Maghi is a festival day in the Hindu calendar, in reference to deity Surya (sun). It is observed each year in January. It marks the first day of sun’s transit into the Makara (Capricorn), marking the end of the month with the winter solstice and the start of longer days.
