BITS Private Limited announces winners of ‘BITS Annual Language Industry Awards 2017’ on the occasion of International Translation Day
Pune, 29th September, 2017: In its endeavor to bring recognition to the achievers from the translation and localisation industry, BITS Private Limited, India’s leading provider of complete translation and localisation language solutions, instituted the ‘BITS Annual Language Industry Awards in 2011.
The awards are the brainchild of Mr Sandeep Nulkar, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of BITS Private Limited and are given on the occasion of International Translation Day that is celebrated worldwide on the 30th of September every year. The idea is to recognise achievers from the translation and localisation industry, while brining the focus on translation and localisaiton as a profession and to make aspiring translators and consumers of languages services aware of the importance of working with professional translators.
Madhuri Hegde was adjudged as ‘BITS Language Professional of the year’. She was awarded a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 21,000. Sunanda Mahajan won the ‘BITS Special Recognition Award’ and she received a trophy and cash prize of Rs. 11,000. Yogita Tahilram won the “BITS Aspiring Language Professional of the Year Award.” She was presented with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5, 000. She will also get an opportunity to work at BITS as an intern and learn from some of the best professionals translators of the country. The Internships comes with a stipend and loads of industry-specific soft and hard skills learning opportunities.
All the winners were felicitated by the Chief Guest, Mr Manoj Barve, India Head of the German Federal Association of SMEs and Mr Sandeep Nulkar, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of BITS Private Limited.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Manoj Barve said, “I would like to thank BITS for this initiative, a first of its kind in the country to provide recognition to language professionals. Sharing a national and global perspective, he added, “The demand for language professionals will only increase day by day and there is a need for language professionals to be even more creative, be proactive and scout for opportunities”.
Mr. Sandeep Nulkar, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director, BITS Private Limited said, “Like the real India lives in its villages, the real spirit of entrepreneurship, innovation and business in India lives in its SMEs. There are over 48 million SMEs looking to expand their business both locally and globally and from English to appeal to a broader audience and vernacular languages to reach deeper into the Indian market to foreign languages to break into foreign markets, language, translation and localisation are slowly but steadily becoming their greatest tool. Mr Nulkar then spoke about how the recently launched ‘Language Support for SMEs’ initiative will help propel SMEs into unchartered markets.
The award ceremony was followed by the play “The Balancing Act” performed by IAPAR (International Association for Performing Arts and Research). The play has been conceptualized and directed by National School of Drama graduate Vidyanidhee Vanarase (Prasad), the founder of IAPAR. This play that used gibberish looked at violence as seen and experienced by young children and was enacted by 5 clowns.
