Border Roads Organisation has overcome all challenges successfully”

Pune, July 4, 2019 : The Annual Chief Engineers’ & Equipment Management Conference of the Border Roads Organisation was held at GREF Centre, Dighi camp, from 03 to 04 July 2019.

The Director General Border Roads, Additional Director Generals, Senior Officials of Defence Accounts Services and Chief Engineers of all Projects attended the two-day long conference. The conference provided an excellent forum for discussion on critical issues including an assessment of current performance for chalking out the future course of action. Shri Shripad Yeso Naik, Raksha Rajya Mantri addressed the conference on 04 July 2019. Speaking on the occasion, Raksha Rajya Mantri said “security needs of the country demand faster construction of various strategic roads including Indo-China Border Roads and General Staff priority roads besides other roads. I am aware that BRO has certain challenges due to terrain, climate and other factors, but I am happy that BRO has overcome all challenges successfully and has enhanced pace of construction to a great extent by adopting new technologies and procedures as per latest trends in road construction from National as well as International arena”.

Raksha Rajya Mantri released Border Roads Organisation Technical Magazine “Oonchi Sadakein” and acknowledged the commendable targets achieved by the Organisation in various facets of connectivity development and rescue efforts during natural calamities in the past one year. The conference also witnessed the presentation of Best Task Force and Best Road Trophy by the Hon’ble Minister.

Some important achievements of the Organisation during the year are apprent commencing of the work on Sela Tunel and four laning of Jammu-Akhnoor road. Pre-stressed Concrete Box Girder type bridge over Diffo river on Road Roing-Koronu-Paya in Arunachal Pradesh under Project Udayak was also inaugurated by Hon’ble Raksha Mantri on 18 Jan 2019. Work on Rohtang Tunnel is proceeding at fast pace. The Organisation had pressed men and machinery to clear tons of snow from Srinagar-Leh Highway passing through Zojila pass from early March this year.
