Cancel 10% water shortage in Mumbai as there is enough water storage in the lake – State Minister Yogesh Sagar

Mumbai, July 19, 2019 : 50% water has increased in the lake that provides water to Mumbai city and suburban. Hence BMCC should cancel 10% water cut and water-supply timing cut that was implemented since last year, suggested Urban Development State Minister Yogesh Sagar.

Water level of the lake that provides water to Mumbai city and suburban was reduced last year. Hence, Mumbai municipality had implemented 10% water-cut in the water-supply. 15% time was cut from water supply time period. As a result, residents of suburban area have to face difficulties. Urban Development State Minister Shri. Sagar had repeatedly followed-through to cancel water cut.

Shri. Sagar said, usable water-storage is increased to 50% this year due to the rainfall in June and July. There are still 57 rainy days till September. Water storage will increase if it rains sufficient. Municipality had cut water supply last year due to water shortage. Residents of Mumbai, especially suburban area are experiencing difficulties due to this water cut. He demanded that as there is enough water this year, municipality should cancel the water-cut immediately and start water supply as usual so the residents in suburban area will be assured.
