 About the Career Camp

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” This is the most clichéd and repetitive question we teenagersare asked, by almost everyone! The answer is tough; how do we really know what we want to become, if we don’t know what’s out there? What if we think we know what we want to do, but then realize we aren’t made for it? Also, this can’t possibly be a decision that can be made in a day. The Orchid School, Pune understands this is a process that the students have to undergo to finally make a decision… that it’s important to help students in their journey to eventually discover what they are made for.

On the 4th and 5th of November, 2015 the Orchid School is conducting the annual Career Camp for the students of Class X and XI. The main objective of the camp is to help the students get an insight into the various fields and professions that they previously may not considered, or have even known existed, thus broadening their horizons. It is a platform through which students will be engaging over two days in discussions and activities that will eventually help in making a decision regarding their career options. Please visit

Unique Features of the Camp:

Online Assessment

Students took an online assessment where their replies to certain questions helped determine what their natural inclination was towards, eventually suggesting some career options that might be most suitable to their personality profile and interests.

The Career Camp

ShadabSiddiqui, IIM graduate and founder of  a career counseling organization, will be taking our students through the two days filled with discussions and interactions that will help them eventually make a choice. He will use videos where ‘A day in the life of…’ various professionals have been documented. Over 15 career options will be explored in this manner, followed by informative sessions, discussions and debates. Through activities such as simulations of Group Discussions, tips for Personal Interviews, process of writing a CV, Shadab will speak about the importance of various steps of preparation towards achieving career goals.

There will also be a panel discussion where established professionals from a variety of different fields will speak to students about exactly what it is to be a professional, skills sets required and some advice for the students to ruminate over. Parent Involvement

Parents are invited to attend the camp with their children on both days. Discussions about careers cannot happen in a vacuum and since these are dialogues that will extend to the home, it is important to have the parents be part of the same space

Students as Leaders

From the aspect of preparation, the career camp stands by the principle ‘of the students, by the students and for the students. but will also understand what goes on behind the scenes to create such a massive event. The students themselves are the main organizers, are coordinating and arranging the event in terms of communication, logistics, hospitality, press, website creation, registration and much more.
