CBI ARRESTS ASSISTANT PROVIDENT FUND COMMISSIONER IN BRIBERY CASE

Panaji, Goa, January 2, 2019 – The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner, Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, Panaji (Goa) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from the complainant.

CBI registered a case U/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act against an Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner, Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Panaji (Goa) on a complaint alleging demand of bribe of Rs. 5,000/- from the complainant for settling the matter of Show Cause Notice issued and non-compliance of KYC norms in respect of employees of his firm, so as to avoid legal proceedings. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000/- from the complainant.

Searches were conducted at the premises of accused which led to recovery of incriminating documents including acquisition of properties etc.

The accused was produced before the Jurisdictional Court at Panaji and was remanded to two days Police Custody.
