CBI arrests retd. Police inspector Bhausaheb Andalkar in Satish Shetty murder case

Pune :   The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested the then Police Inspector of Crime Branch, Pune rural police (Maharashtra) in an on-going investigation of case related to murder of RTI activist Satish Shetty in 2010.

CBI had taken over the investigation of the case on the request of Maharashtra Government which was earlier registered at Police Station Talegaon Dabhade, Pune vide Cr No.08/2010 dated 13.01.2010 under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

It was alleged that Shetty was killed on 13.01.2010 by unknown assailants in near his house in Talegaon Dabhade, about 30 km from Pune. During investigation, it has emerged that Bhausaheb Andalkar, the then Police Inspector, Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Pune rural police had allegedly conspired with others and fabricated & manipulated evidences to shield the real conspirators and killers.

The arrested accused will be produced before a special CBI court on Thursday at the district court premises in Shivajinagar.
