CBI REGISTERS A CASE AGAINST THEN PRINCIPAL SECRETARY (IAS-1984 BATCH) OF GNCTD FOR POSSESSION OF ALLEGED DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS TO THE TUNE OF RS. 6.14 CRORE

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against then Principal Secretary (IAS-84 Batch), Department for Welfare of SC, ST, OBC & Minorities, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) for possession of alleged disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs. 6.14 crore (approx).

  It may be recalled that CBI arrested then Principal Secretary, Department for Welfare of SC, ST & Minorities, State Government of Delhi and his PA in an alleged bribery case of Rs. 2.2 lakh on 08.12.2015. A case was registered on a complaint in which it was alleged that Principal Secretary (an IAS officer of 1984 Batch of AGMUT cadre), Department of Welfare of SC/ST & Minorities, State Government of Delhi was demanding bribe of Rs. 2.2 lakh through his PA to clear the pending bills of contractor engaged by the department to provide services like guards etc to the department.

During searches conducted at the residence of accused, documents pertaining to ownership of 8 properties in Delhi/NCR including three properties in Noida, two in Greater Noida, two in Gurgaon & booking of one floor at Safdurjung Enclave, Delhi in the name of the officer & his wife were found. 31 gold bars; cash of Rs. 36.10 Lakh (approx); US Dollars 5279; UK pounds 1230 as well as 100 gms Gold Coins and 5 Kg Silver Utensils were recovered from the lockers. Bank balance of Rs. 2 crore (approx) in the 22 accounts (approx) maintained by the accused & his family members and investment of the Rs. 2 crore (approx) in FD’s, PPF accounts & Tax free bonds were also found.
