Civil Engineering Students demonstrate artistic skills with skits and street plays on various issues and solutions related to construction industry

Pune 13th January 2020: Students from various  Colleges demonstrated artistic skills with street plays on various issues and solutions related to construction industry. Builders’ Association of India, Pune on Saturday organized, Abhiyanta Karandak, a Street Play Competition especially for Civil Engineering students on Saturday, at COEP. The street plays were followed by prize distribution ceremony at the hands of the Chief Guest Vijay Patwardhan, well known Actor, Director and Writer. Manoj Deshmukh, Chairman, BAI Pune Centre, Ashok Atkekar, Vice Chairman, BAI, Sanjay Apte, Hon. Secretary, BAI Neelkanth Joshi, Secretary CONSTRO Exhibition, Ajay Gujar, Hon. Treasurer, BAI amongst others were present on the occasion.

Subhash Deshpande, Ex- Chairman, BAI, Hitesh Porje, Actor, Writer, Mukta Soman, Actor, Director, Swati Raje, Founding Director, Bhasha Foundation were present as jury for the Abhiyanat Karandak.

Sinhgad College of Engineering, Narhe bagged the first prize, JSPM’s RSCOE, Tathawade won 1st runner up, Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering,Nigdi won 2nd runner up Consolation prize was given to D.Y Patil College of Engineering. All the above teams will get opportunity to perform during CONSTRO 2020 Exhibition on 16th to 19th January 2020 at Agriculture College Ground.

The theme of the competition was Challenges of engineering contracting today and Importance of Civil Engineering for the society.  Colleges including Sinhgad College of Engineering, Narhe, Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, Nigdi, JSPM’s RSCOE, D.Y Patil College of Engineering, Pimpri and Dnyanshree Institute of Engineering, Satara participated the competition. It was a great opportunity for the students to show their technical knowledge through cultural talent.  Each of the team had option of performing for maximum 15minutes with a team size of maximum 10 students.

The entire initiative was supported by various sponsors including Millennium Engineers and Contractors Ltd., Scon Projects, Tejas, Jayco and COEP.

Vijay Patwardhan, well known Actor, Director and Writer shared his experience and congratulated the students.
