Cleaner ambiance and healthier living motto of Viman Nagar residents

Pune, June 2 : Viman Nagar was buzzing with activity on lazy laid morning. The drive was undertaken by Viman Nagar residents association (VNRA) in association with AXA Services. It was a cleanliness drive organized on 29th May. In this drive more than 100 volunteers participated from Viman Nagar and AXA employees, shopkeepers and hawkers. During the drive roads and trees were cleaned and painted.

A few active and aware citizens dedicated the day to selfless social work by involving themselves in cleaning up road facing  Neco garden society with the help of PMC staffers. The volunteers were a mix of AXA employee volunteers and VNRA members with common resolve to make their vicinity clean. All were brimming with enthusiasm and excitement for contributing to the community and environment.

 Arjun Jagtap, the president of VNRA and  Sandeep Arora, CEO of AXA business services made the show special and conspicuous event. Tree and telephone distribution boxes were cleaned and painted. Dustbins were placed at suitable junction with the messages of cleanliness. The members of the event also familiarised the shopkeepers and street vendors with all do’s and don’ts and sensitised towards the benefits of cleanliness to seek their continuous cooperation. Murals were painted by children from an art academy conveying messages of civic senses and saving of environment. The day with symbolic oath-taking culminated against the judicial use of plastic and littering, followed by a sumptuous breakfast arranged by AXA for all the volunteers. Dustbins and caps were provided by AXA.

The activity was part of the AXA ‘corporate responsibility week’ global initiative that is conducted every year across all companies in the AXA group in 60 countries worldwide. This was a symbolic activity which VNRA intend to take forward and have resolved to make Viman Nagar a more hygienic place to live. The involvement and support of big corporate like AXA towards improving society and environment left a long lasting positive impact. We can all take a resolve to do our bit for the betterment of earth.
