CONSTRUCTION WORLD ARCHITECT &BUILDER (CWAB) Awards 2018 held its SecondCWAB Regional Initiative in Pune

Pune, July 4, 2018:The Construction World Architect and Builder Awards (CWAB) Organized by FIRST Construction Council has added a new dimension this year to recognize regional players – architects, builders and interior designers, who are striving towards excellence. In the process of appreciating the talent in Building industry of Western region,nominees for 13th CWAB awards 2018 was announced today in Pune. Organized by FIRST Construction Council, CWAB Regionals West 2018 is supported by Lead Partner: FunderMax; and Supporting Organizations: Builders Association of India-Pune Chapter and Professional Realtors of Pune.

Reports indicate that the real estatesector in India is likely to reach a market size of $180 billion by 2020, from $126 billion reported in 2015. The housing sector’s contribution to the Indian GDP is expected to almost double to more than 11 per cent by 2020.With reference to India’s West region, smart cities have given a fillip to infrastructure development spurring growth for the real estate market across cities. Identifying thisscope, Enthusiasm and innovation in the Western region, FIRST Construction Council took a step forward to recognize and award excellence in process and execution.

According to a recent Knight Frank Q3 2017 report, Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad are the key cities in the western region of the country. Ahmedabad saw a 55 per cent spike in new launches in H2 2017 compared to H1 2017 in the residential segment. Speaking about Maharashtra, the state government’s proactive establishment of RERA has put Mumbai far ahead of other cities in terms of RERA compliance. Moreover, the real estate market in Pune in the second half of 2017 was projected as a consumer’s market and the best time to invest in the city’s real estate.

Giving CWAB Regionals West 2018 a perfect start, Falguni Padode, Co-founder and Group Managing Editor, CONSTRUCTION WORLD, spoke on the methodology and journey of CWAB. “The model started with a simple ceremony in 2006. In 2011, the awards took on a theme – one year ‘green’, one year ‘youth’, one year ‘glocal’, and so on. In 2016, with the SMART moves made by the Government and growth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities gaining ground, we reached out to projects across the country and added a whole new category: NOTEWORTHY PROJECTS, and with that, a whole new process as well. And this year, we have added yet another dimension, to recognize Regional Players, which is what brings us all to this event today.”

Padode went on to announce the names of the nominees in the West region this year. Some of the nominees are 4th Axis Design Studio, Pooja&Piyush Associates, Sanjay Newaskar Designs LLP, Tangents Design Cell, Kohinoor Group Pune, Paradigm Realty. This was followed by a panel discussion on ‘What Buyers Want?’ Moderated byShriyalSethumadhavan,Senior Assistant Editor, CONSTRUCTION WORLD. The panel comprisedShrikantParanjpe, Chairman Paranjape Schemes Construction & President CREDAI, Pune Metro, ShashiPrabhu, Founder & Senior Partner, ShashiPrabhu associates, Mala Singh, Chairman & MD, PEC Greening India, Deben Moza, Executive Director, Head of Project Management Services, Knight Frank, India and AnuragShukla, Sales Head, FunderMax India.The panelists discussed and deliberated up on the buyer preferences in the West region. The discussion revolved around the real estate market in the West region, followed by the role of design and planning to meet buyer requirement.

In the series of regional event the first event was conducted in Kolkata (For east region), Today’s event in Pune was to cover Western Region and similar events to follow in Noida (for the North region) on July 18th 2018 and Bengaluru (for the South region) on July 25th2018.The final national event – CWAB 2018 – will take place on September 12th in Mumbai, where winners from all four regions will be announced.
