Coronavirus: All shops, offices closed in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Nagpur, Mumbai

Pune, March 20,2020: After the number of Coronavirus positive patients increased to 52 in the state, Maharashtra government has ordered complete shutdown in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, Nagpur and Mumbai, today midnight till March 31.

Except shops selling milk, vegetables, grocery items, medicines, all shops and offices will be closed, said Chief Minister Udhav Thackeray.

Rail and bus services will continue to function. Also, only 25 percent government employees will work, he added.

He also clarified that if companies can’t provide work from home then they will have to keep their offices closed.

With two more persons found to be Corona positive today, Maharashtra now has total 52 Corona positive patients out of which one person has died in Mumbai . In Pune district the number of positive cases has increased to 21 now.

Pimpri Chinchwad patient is the relative of one of the positive patients, and has a travel history of Philippines.

Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that five patients will be discharged from hospital as they have recovered from Coronavirus. The government is bearing all expenses for the treatment. Now Coronavirus tests are being done at six places and soon this number will be increased to 12.
