CORPS OF EME CELEBRATES 74TH RAISING DAY

The Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) celebrated its 74th Corps Day on 15 Oct 2016. It was on this historical day that the Corps of EME emerged out of the Army Ordnance Corps. The Corps of EME is responsible to achieve and maintain the operational efficiency of all equipment held on charge of the Indian Army. The GOC-in-C Southern Command Lt Gen P M Hariz, AVSM, SM, VSM complimented all ranks of the Corps for their technical ethos and dedication to ensure equipment readiness and exhorted them to maintain highest state of preparedness. He also emphasized upon efforts to indigenize and modernize while keeping abreast with the latest technology.

The Corps with technical innovativeness has kept the large quantity of Weapons and Equipment held with Indian Army in a state of high serviceability. The personnel of Corps have not only excelled in technical fields but have also carved a niche for themselves in sports at the national/ international levels and aid to civil authorities including flood relief operations. Athletics, Sailing, Rowing, Squash, Weight lifting and Mountaineering are some events where EME has produced stalwarts who have done the Nation proud. The Flying Sikh Milkha Singh, Maj HPS Ahluwalia and Brig RK Manchanda are some of the stalwarts from the Corps of EME. The Corps of EME has also performed valiantly in all the Operations conducted by Indian Army winning a number of awards to include one Padma Bhushan, four Padma Shri, six Kirti Chakra, two Vir Chakra, seven Shaurya Chakra and eight Arjuna Awards.
