Deccan Chamber of Commerce presents its annual awards

Pune, October 15, 2019: “Today the world is under pressure as the entities like industry 4.0, Internet Of Things (IOT), machine learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are growing at a rapid rate in the industrial space. One of our major challenges is to upgrade science and technology in India as I believe that it will make inroads into almost all the sectors,” said Dr. Shekhar Mande, Director-General of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

He was speaking at the 17th Annual Award Function of Deccan Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (DCCIA) held at Hyatt Regency, Pune. The DCCIA also celebrated its silver jubilee at this occasion.

Prakash Dhoka, Chairman, DCCIA and H. P. Srivastava, Vice Chairman delivered a joint address in the programme, in which they highlighted the milestones which  Chamber achieved in it’s journey of 25 years. They also shared their views on current economic scenario. The other Office bearers of Chamber namely Rathin Sinha, Secretary and Surinder Aggarwal, Treasurer and committee members  including Yogesh Vaghani, VL Malu,  Rajiv Lokare, Pandit Palande and Anil Gupta were present at the event.

“We have to develop technologies which are contemporary and adopt them as soon as possible for industrial growth and create a place for ourselves in the global world,” added Mande who also unveiled DCCIA’s annual magazine- ‘Sparsh’.

At the function, DCCIA presented the award for excellence in Social Service to Rajkumar Khinvsara for holding blood donation camps since past 26 years and providing nutritious meals to over 600 patients admitted in general ward in hospitals everyday.

The DCCIA conferred its Life-time Achievement award on to Werner Ploner, Managing Director, Swarovski, India for his service to Indian Industry during last two decades.

The award for the Best Industrialist was presented to Kesari Patil, Founder Chairman of Kesari Tours for taking tourism to a new level. The award was received by Patil’s daughter Zelam Chaubal, Director of the firm on his behalf.

The chamber also gave award for excellence for Best HR practices to Wika Instruments India Pvt. Ltd, while the award for excellence in Best Safety Practices was given to Infiloom India Pvt Ltd. The participation certificates in HR and Safety were presented to Oriental Rubber Industries Ltd, Chemetall India and Avery Dennison India.
