‘Drushtikon 2015’ photo exhibition by Photographers@Pune

Pune, December 14: Popularly known as P@P, Photographers @ Pune an informal group of devoted photographers is hosting ‘Drushtikon 2015’, their annual photography exhibition between December 18th and 20th at Raja Ravi Varma Art Gallery on Ghole Road. The timing of the exhibition on all days would be 10:00am to 8:00pm on all days. Noted film and theatre actor Amey Wagh shall inaugurate the exhibition at 11am on December 18th. Entry to this exhibition is free.

Punekar News's photo.The exhibition will have 100 photographs by 50 photographers shortlisted from over 2000 entries, shot across the globe with different types of cameras. Genres like landscapes, portraits, macro, abstract, wildlife and street would be on display in the exhibition. Fifty percent of earning gained from the sale of photographs on display will go into sponsoring education for deaf and mute children from Vidya Pratishthan.

The common denominator amongst P@P members is a passion for photography, and some connection with the glorious city of Pune. P@P started with half a dozen members and today boasts nearly 2600 members, and growing by the day. Members hail from various walks of life ranging from students to doctors and even IT professionals. Age groups too range from 15 year olds to corporate head honchos and senior citizens.

The common denominator amongst P@P members is a passion for photography, and some connection with the glorious city of Pune. P@P started with half a dozen members and today boasts nearly 2600 members, and growing by the day. Members hail from various walks of life ranging from students to doctors and even IT professionals. Members share pictures, discuss finer aspects of photography, equipment and much more at P@P’s Flickr Page. However P@P is not restricted to being an ‘online’ group. Members meet offline quite often for joint photo shoots, photowalks, seminars, workshops and an annual charitable exhibition. On an average approximately 30 new members and 250 new photographs get added to the P@P pool each week. Currently the pool stands at 54,000+ photographs clicked by members.

Some achievements & milestones of P&P are include growth from a 6 member group (2006) to nearly 2600 active members in 2011, its activities and endeavors as a group have found favorable mention & support in various media from time to time, it has become known country wide for being amongst the most active photographic communities, it has undertaken numerous outings, excursions and small events; some in association with photographic communities from other cities and P@P has successfully organized and executed 6 photographic exhibition cum sales of members’ photographs, wherein a major part of the proceeds have gone to different charitable causes.
