By Vaibhavi DhotrePune, 28th June 2016: City’s well-known DSK Group has formed Neeraj Lifeline Foundation. This foundation will work to increase the awareness towards road safety and overall grooming of drivers.

It is seen that along with man made mistakes, road conditions do play a major role in accidents. With proper management, some of the problems can easily be solved.

The Neeraj Foundation will work towards it, informed Vivek Velankar, Trustee-DSK Foundation.

The announcement has come at the backdrop of recent accident D S Kulkarni had met with which had led to the tragic death of his driver Neeraj Singh.

This incident opened the eyes of DS Kulkarni and made him strive for implementing measures to avoid accidents on expressways.

Expressway in general consists of 16 lanes with a wide service lane. But Pune- Mumbai expressway consists of only 6 lanes thereby neglecting service lane at some places. This expressway is also made of concrete, which does not provide a strong grip as Tar roads. Other states have expressways with 8 lanes which helps avoid accidents. Thus in order to make this possible DS Kulkarni launched “Neeraj Life line foundation” and “Neeraj driving school”.

Neeraj Life Line Foundation will be doing work in six categories with public participation – technical ,implementation, legal, public support, training, medical training . It will be presided over by  famous Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Sharad Hardikar.

Neeraj driving school will ensure well trained drivers also having knowledge of first aid treatment to victims. DS Kulkarni also declared that he will file a case of “murder” against the state on bad road safety.
