First death of Coronavirus patient in Uttar Pradesh, 25-year-old dies in Gorakhpur

New Delhi, 1 Apr 2020 : The first death of a Coronavirus positive patient has been reported in Uttar Pradesh, the country’s largest populous state.
The 25-year-old youth from Gorakhpur succumbed during treatment at BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur. The condition of two more persons admitted in Lucknow and Meerut, is critical.
This is the first death of a corona positive in the state. Also, only case to have died from the deadly virus at such a young age.
According to Dr. Sudhir Singh, media in-charge of KMU Lucknow, the sample that came from Gorakhpur has been found positive. The investigation in Gorakhpur was also correct. There was a cross check from KMU.
The young man who died was a resident of Turkhiya Street in Basti district. He used to run a general store shop. No travel history has been found for the last three or four months, but he was generally living ill. The youth was getting his treatment at BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur.
 The lab of BRD Medical College had already confirmed the corona. The young man died on Monday, but the BRD Medical College had sent the sample to KMU for re-examination. Today, after a re-examination in KMU, the youth was confirmed to be Covid-19 positive.
He was admitted last Sunday with a complaint of breathlessness. His sample was sent on Tuesday for investigation. Today itself, KMU described it as positive in its report.
Two doctors, two staff nurses and two wards were engaged under the supervision of the patient. They have been immediately quarantined. Two lab technicians who collected sample of the patient’s saliva without personal protective kits have also been quarantined in the hostel.
