First of Its Kind Beauty Pageant For Plus Sized Women In India
Pune, March 2017: The poster launch of the Miss & Mrs Curvy Queen 2017 beauty pageant was held recently. This will be the first of its kind beauty contest to be held for curvaceous unmarried and married women in the country.
Speaking about the pageant, Trishla Rane, Director, 4th Dimension Media and Organizer of the Pageant, said, “This pageant will feature women who till now have not been given their due in the fashion/ glamour world.” She added, “It Is always felt that women have to be lean or size zero to enter the fashion and glamour industry. We are here to break those stereotypes and give plus size women a platform full of opportunities to live their dreams “
Trishla went on to add, “Such pageants for the plus sized women are quite in have been held in various North American and European and African Countries. However India being the third country in the count of overweight population, never had any such pageant. Hence we thought of coming up with this contest for the curvy women of India. Also the agenda of the contest is to propagate healthy living and give the true meaning of fitness, which does not mean to starve yourself.”
Neha Chanchlani, Owner, Studio Strands Salon and Co-Organizer of the Pageant, “I have been thinking about hosting such a pageant for a long time. We are looking to address a fashion segment which was hitherto ignored in the country.” She added further, “Now we have fashion brands coming up in the country which are specifically addressing the fashion needs of plus sized women in the country.”
Neha went on to say that, “The initial response to our pageant has been phenomenal. We have had registrations from different parts of the country.”
Also present at the Press Conference was Ritika Tara Sharma who is a fashion stylist for brands like MTV, Femina and Cosmopolitan. She is among the first few fashion stylists and fashion make over experts in the country.
The auditions for the pageant will be held in various cities of Maharashtra in April, which will be followed by an intensive grooming session, with the Grand Finale of the pageant going to be held in the first week of May in Pune.
