FOGSI CNN Conference kicks off in Pune

Pune 24 June 2017 : With an aim to increase awareness  and improve women’s health in India , Federation Of Obstetric & Gynaecological Society (FOGSI) has undertaken a number of activities . This was informed by

Dr Sunita Tandulwadkar, organising chairperson of FOGSI CNN & Vice President FOGSI along with Dr Rishma Pai, President FOGSI.They were speaking on the sidelines of the three day ​FOGSI CNN Conference organized by Pune Obstetrics & Gynaecological Society (POGS) under the aegis FOGSI in Pune ​from 23-25 June .​

Dr Sunita Tandulwadkar organizing chairperson FOGSI CNN conference informed that about 1000 delegates along with 350 experts are deliberating on Controversies , Newer updates & Newer evidences in this field. Nearly 80 young doctors will present their work in free paper session.

Pune. Dr Sunita Tandulwadkar , Vice President FOGSI is the organising chairperson with Dr Parag Biniwale & Dr Girija Wagh as organising secretaries under the guidance of Dr Rishma Pai, President FOGSI & Dr Nishikant Shrotri , President POGS.

Dr Rishma Pai said that FOGSI officially launched ‘Nari Swasthya Pahel’ ( Women’s Health Initiative) in April. As a part of the program 50 large camps were organized  last month in association with local chapters wherein basic health check up including sugar , hemoglobin , BMI , gynecology   were carried out. About 10,000 women participated in these camps. FOGSI is fully supporting these initiatives including funding and logistics. In the first half of June we have entered  Limca Book of Records for anemia check up across 33 centres.

She added that FOGSI has also instituted FOGSI Future awards for encouraging young gynecologists and Women awards in each zone felicitating women achievers from other fields.

She said the with the theme ‘She Matters’ , Women’s health is the core focus of our initiatives. The whole thing is woven around Care , Educate and Transfer. We are conducting regular surveys regarding health issues of women and have concluded two including Polycystic Ovary Syndrome , Fibroids and have collected a lot of data with the help 34000 strong membership of FOGSI. The findings are startling and shows they are no less than epidemic with more than 35% young women affected by Polycystic Ovary Syndrome , more than 20% affected by fibroids, more than 20% suffer from Endometriosis, 10% by infertility and many from TB  .This can cause complications later.  The only way to reduce this is by creating more awareness and disseminating more information which will lead to early detection and proper treatment. She said that issues relating to social stigma are reducing considerably with people openly taking about IVF, Surrogacy , egg freezing etc.

FOGSI is also celebrating various days like Yoga Day and now with the Government we are creating awareness on World Population Day​
