Get lessons in music from the organizers of Sawai Gandharva

, 2018: Music enthusiasts of the city gets a chance to pursue vocal education at the Sawai Gandharva Sangeet Vidyalaya, an esteemed institution governed by Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal, organizers of the iconic Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav. The institute administer a special certification course in Indian classical music.
The course is available in Basic and Diploma category and entitles primary teaching to the participants. The duration of Basic Vocal Education comprises of 1 year whereas it is 2 years for the Diploma course. The course will be conducted at the institute at Sawai Gandharva Smarak near Rahul Theatre, Shivaji Nagar.
In this course, students will be taught Raga’s like Bhoop, Yaman, Bhimpalasi and will be introduced to the important components of Indian classical music such as Taal, Sur, Swarlipi, Bandish, Aalap etc. Legendary artists will also give lectures to the students during this course. Audio-visuals of renowned artists will also be shown as a part of the curriculum.
The eligibility criteria for the course is anyone who has passed standard five and is of the age 10 year and above can apply. After completion of course, the successful candidates will receive certificate from Sawai Gandharva Sangeet Vidyalaya. Fees is applicable for this course. Since the inception of the institutionin the year 1932, the institute is completely engaged in the education and promotion of Hindustani classical vocal music and instrumental music.
Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal are organizer of the prestigious Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav. The Mandal was started by famous vocalist Abdul Kareem Khan from Kirana Gharana.
