Goldman Datta Phuge murdered in Dighi
Pune : Famous goldman Datta Phuge (36) from Pimpri-Chinchwad who shot to fame world over three years back for possessing a shirt made of 3.3 kg gold worth Rs 1.27 crores, was kidnapped and bludgeoned to death.
Pune police have arrested five men for the alleged murder which is fallout of some financial dealings. He was called to Dighi area under pretext of celebration of birthday. The murder was witnessed by his son Shubham (19) when he went there to give Biryani as asked by his father. He informed police while sitting in his and escaped from there around 11 pm on July 15.
Police said that one of the killers had taken Rs 1.5 lakh loan and Datta was asking for it.
Datta ran a chitfund company called Vakratunda Chitfund Pvt Ltd in Pune. He had allegedly duped people by taking money without giving any documents for lucrative returns. The accused persons were his friends who used to bring gullible customers to him for commission.
Phuge owned Vakratunda Chit Fund company launched in 2009 and used to also lend money on interest. There are many cases registered against him for cheating people.
