Hero Indian Super League is India’s unrivalled football championship scheduled to kick off on 3rd of October 2015 with the opening match between defending champions Atlético de Kolkata and Chennaiyin FC in Chennai. It is co-promoted by IMG-Reliance (the joint venture between IMG and Reliance Industries), Star India and supported by All India Football Federation (AIFF). India’s leading industrialists and celebrities from sports as well as the Indian film industry like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor, John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan, have invested in owning the Indian Super League’s franchises. The Hero Indian Super League sparked off a football revolution in the country last year with its inaugural edition featuring eight city franchises based out of Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Guwahati, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.
This year ISL is bigger and better with the poster boys of Indian football joining the league international football stars, celebrated coaches like Roberto Carlos, Zico, Materazzi, Mutu, Hélder Postigo, Anelka, to name a few. The League stage will witness 56 games followed by a two-legged knock out round to finally culminate in Goa on December 20th 2015.
