Hyderabad: People shower flowers on police for killing gang rape, murder accused in encounter

Hyderabad,Telangana, December 6, 2019: The case of the gang rape and murder of a female doctor in Hyderabad has taken a shocking turn. Telangana police on Friday morning killed all the four accused in the case in an encounter.

Police had taken the accused on the crime scene (National Highway-44) to re-construct sequence of event, but taking advantage of the opportunity, they started fleeing. The police opened fire in a swift action in which all the accused were killed.

Reports quoted the police commissioner as saying that the police had taken the four accused under the flyover where they had set the victim on fire. The crime scene was being recast at that place when the four accused started running away and one of them also tried to snatch weapon of a policeman. On this, the police warned them and in quick action opened fire, killing all four.

On the intervening night of 27-28 November, the accused persons had killed a 27-year-old female doctor in Hyderabad. According to reports, these accused deflated tyre of her scooty. Then under pretext of helping her, they started talking to her and dragged her to abandoned room and gang raped and strangled her to death.

According to reports, the accused did not stop here. After killing the victim, they put her body in a truck, threw it under an overbridge, about 25 km from the spot and set it on fire. The whole country was agitated due to the gang-rape of the vet and the brutal murder. There was a demand for justice at the earliest from the road to Parliament.

The people of Hyderabad showered rose petals on Cyberabad Police personnel at the spot where accused in the gang rape and murder of the woman veterinarian were killed in an encounter today morning.

People celebrated and cheered for police at the encounter site where the four accused were killed in an encounter. ‘DCP Zindabad, ACP Zindabad’ slogans were also raised.

DCP Shamshabad Prakash Reddy said that Cyberabad Police had brought the accused persons to the crime spot for re-construction of the sequence of events around 3 am. The accused snatched weapon and fired on Police. In self defence the police fired back, in which the accused were killed.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar said the accused Mohammed Arif, Naveen, Shiva and Chennakeshavulu were killed in a Police encounter at Chatanpally, Sadnagar today in the wee hours, between 3 am and 6am.

In 2008 he led a team that killed three youths who had thrown acid at two girls.

Father of the woman veterinarian said, “My daughter died 10 days ago. I express my gratitude towards the police & govt for this. My daughter’s soul must be at peace now.”

Asha Devi, Nirbhaya’s mother, appreciated Telangana police and said that no action should be taken against them.

On this encounter, chairman of National Commission for Women Rekha Sharma said, “as a common citizen I am happy because this is what we all wanted for those accused, but it should have ended through the legal system. The police are the best judge here, I do not know in what circumstances it happened”

At the same time, BSP supremo Mayawati has said that crimes against women are increasing in Uttar Pradesh, but the state government is sleeping. The police of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi should also learn from the Telangana Police, but unfortunately criminals are hospitable in these states, she said.
