Kolkata, 2nd February 2018: The 2nd edition of the IDBI Federal Life Insurance Kolkata Full Marathon has received AIMS certification for the upcoming race on 4th February 2018. The marathon has attained qualification status for major international marathons like Tokyo, Boston, Berlin to name a few.
Face of the event, Sachin Tendulkar will flag off all four race categories including Full Marathon, Half Marathon, The Timed 10K and 5K Hope Run on 4th February 2018 from Red Road, Kolkata. This year, over 8,000 participants are expected to run the IDBI Federal Kolkata Full Marathon, which includes 1000 Army men and 1000 police personnel. Local runner Pooja Jain who aims to break the Guinness Book of World Record and attempt for the Best of India Record (BIR) will run in a saree.
On receiving the AIMS certification Karthik Raman, CMO, IDBI Federal Life Insurance said, “We are extremely proud and honoured to receive the AIMS certification for our IDBI Federal Life Insurance Kolkata Full Marathon. We aim to not only promote distance running but also offer runners and athletes a platform through which they can qualify for international marathons.”
Nagaraj Adiga, Race Director IDBI Federal Life Insurance Kolkata Full Marathon, said “Participating in an AIMS certified marathon motivates runners to target and achieve their best finish time. We are looking forward to a successful race day wherein the people of Kolkata enjoy a good course run.”
This year the runners across races and age categories will compete for a podium finish and the overall prize money is pegged at INR 10 lakhs.
