Chief flags off ‘Yoga Chakra Cyclothon’

Lucknow: 26 February, 2016 Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav today flagged off a ‘Yoga Chakra Cyclothon’, a cycling mission aimed at promoting peace and harmony, from his official residence here. This Cyclothon is being undertaken by famous artistic yoga teacher Mr Bharat Thakur and his associates.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister wished the Cyclothon and its participants success and said that in present time, all the three – cycling, yoga and environment and that there was an urgent need to take the benefits and importance of these to the masses. Along with this, promoting peace and harmony was also important. The efforts of the participants in doing so, he pointed out, was laudable. He also assured them of full support from the state government.

On this occasion, Mr. Bharat Thakur said that the state provided very good arrangements for cycling and added that yoga and cycling were two important factors that could reduce ailments emanating out of changed lifestyle. Everyday cycling, he added, could lead to effective control on heart ailments and arthritis and pointed out that cycle was an easy and good mode of commuting as well.

By promoting cycling in a vast state like Uttar Pradesh, pollution could also be brought down in a big way, Mr. Thakur stated. Also present on the occasion were Political Pension Minister Mr. Rajendra Chowdhary, MP Mrs. Dimple Yadav, Principal Secretary (Information) Mr. Navneet Sehgal and other officials.

It may be pointed out here that famous Artistic Yoga Teacher Mr. Bharat Thakur and his associates Mr. Gaurav Kumar, Mr. Raj Shekhar and Mr. Ravi Sheshadri are undertaking a 5,000-km long ‘Yoga Chakra Cyclothon’ from Kathmandu to Kanyakumari. During the journey, they are also promoting harmony and peace and educating people about the need to conserve and protect the environment.
